What do you miss whilst you’re on holiday?

Currently 1 week into a 3 week holiday and we are having a great time. I always miss my pets when we go away (especially my dog). & I always miss food from home especially gravy dinners with lots of veggies! I’m really not into the tomato, courgette, aubergine ie Mediterranean vegetables. I eat them because I need something other than meat, bread or chips.

I love holidays but I also love coming back home.

What do you miss whilst you’re away?

Our lovely king size bed

All dd’s stuff! Her bed (rather than travel cot), her toys and books (instead of the two we bring along), the park with all her friends who can entertain her for hours.

PattedPlont · 27/06/2019 15:31

My own bed. If there was a holiday company that transported your bed to your holiday destination, I'd be all over that!

Being able to just wander into the kitchen and get a glass of water with ice. And just watching tele of an evening - on holiday I always feel like I have to go out.

When we went away for six months I really missed M&S prawn mayo sandwiches, and just M&S generally really. And watching telly.

MysweetAudrina · 27/06/2019 15:36

my bed and my toilet and the kids talk about the dog a lot.

weemouse · 27/06/2019 15:36

Fuck all.

It's great to be away with just a suitcase and no worries for a fortnight.

tisonlymeagain · 27/06/2019 15:36

Carpet under my feet when I get out of bed. I always seem to be somewhere without carpet and as soon as I get home it feels so nice!

ComeonBridget - this is why we generally have a villa rather than going to an hotel. Also you get your own pool so no having to put towels on sunbeds at 6am!
We ahve just had 10 nights in Cyprus and my husband cooked on 4 nights, the rest we ate out, but we usually back by 10pm, glass of wine, TV, relax.

I miss my own bed. The mattresses are never very comfy for my dodgy hip!

CORSACORSA · 27/06/2019 15:45

Home. I dont go abroad anymore. Not that ive been loads (4 times) snd ive never enjoyed it. I prefer weekends away and stay in the UK. I live in a gorgeous place and very touristy. Love being home.

My bed and the quiet nights

Just chilling out in the evenings watching tv. On holiday I always feel like I have to dress up and go out/drink (DH always wants to go out every night on holiday) and I find that a bit much after a while. For this reason we tend to do short breaks rather than longer holidays.
