Tips on first day back at work following stress sick leave

I've been off for a few weeks signed off by GP after a period of ridiculous stress at work. Boss has admitted this in my OH referral at work for my return.

I am lucky that I am in tomorrow then can wfh on Friday to ease me back.

I will get all my clothes/food/bag ready tonight so I just have to get myself up and out (DH manages DCs in morning). Any other tips? Not sure how much I should disclose to colleagues, none are surprised I'm off, more I lasted as long as I did.

Boss has also offered that all work related requests go through him if I want, not sure whether it's better to ease in gently or just carry on as normal. The cause of the stress had now reduced significantly and was a one off, wilk not recur. Normally my job is pretty dull and ploddy!

Agree with you manager something you can tell your colleagues. It doesn't have to be about the reasons for your absence, but could be about your work plans over the coming weeks.

Plan catch up meetings with colleagues you work closely with or those you get on well with to find out what has been going on whilst you were off and to help reintegrate you back into work.

Ensure you take the breaks you are entitled to.

Plan something nice to 'celebrate' the your first few days back at work. Have something to look forward too at the weekend.

Make sure you have regular time with your line manager to review your progress with returning to work.

Agree SMART objectives with your line manager. Are there any enjoyable tasks/quick wins that can help to rebuild your confidence.

Good luck!
