What are these children's Christmas books called?

The first is about a cat. It's his first Christmas I believe (not Mog). He goes into different rooms of the house exploring the Christmas wrapping etc. and keeps getting in the way. Eventually he accidentally pulls the Christmas tree down and is shut outside by owner. Father Christmas arrives and let's him back in. There is a picture of the cat napping on Santa's lap. When he wakes, Santa has gone and the cat has a stocking of his own. I believe the cat is black and white but not 100% sure!

The second is a book about a puppy who gets left by the road (on Christmas Eve I think...) He is lost, scared and frightened until eventually a family or an elderly man let's him into their/his warm home and he becomes their/his pet.

Both have beautiful pictures and were read to me in the nineties but I have no idea how old they are. I've tried searching to no avail!

No idea what has triggered this search but I can't stop thinking about them now!

Help please MN!

First book sounds like Tosca’s Christmas by Matthew Sturgis, loved this book as a child and the pictures are beautiful. No idea about the other book though
