May i ask some sensitive advice? DS (almost 5) has just come to me hysterical.. He's just realised that his foreskin goes back and "hates the pink thing inside" and is scared.

I said it was just part of him and nothing to be scared of. He asked why was his skin white but inside it was red. I said look at my face... my skin is white. What colour is the inside of my mouth and he said red. I said it was just the inside of his willy and so was red.

He kept saying he didnt like it :-(

Have I dealt with this ok?

First off I need to say we circumcised so I have never had this issue....but as I read this I am wondering why out of nowhere he just became hysterical and scared about it.

**But in my uneducated (lol) opinion,you handled it perfectly.It's tough when they come to us with questions we weren't quite prepared for yet,especially when they are super upset like your little boy.

Great answers. DS (4) has recently discovered that his foreskin retracts and is utterly fascinated by the tip of his penis. He's not scared of it but has a lot of questions about it and fielding them (often at top volume in a supermarket queue or similar) is a minefield. I think you answered perfectly.

I think you explained it really well! Now that you know it fully retracts back I'd definitely be encouraging him to wash it in the bath. That was learned the hard way here...DH is circumcised so doesn't remember having to wash like that and I literally had no clue about it and then one day we had some rather yucky pants to deal with

This happened to a friend of mines don when he was about 6, she had no idea what to do so text me to come over, I had no clue, I had a baby Dd then.

He's 22 now and fine, it went back.
