My 4yo EXHAUSTS me (semi light hearted)

she talks all the time*

  • she uses 20 words when 5 would do the trick
  • she isn't the best sleeper so on days I don't work / non school days I reckon I listen to her from 6.30am - 9pm
  • she sings and dances and shrieks and yells. She isn't quiet
  • she follows me around, I still cant take a shit without her unless I'm up earlier than her. she always wants to sit on* me or touch me or have me touch her.
  • she greets me like I've been away for a year if I so much as pop to shops without her

She is middle child and amazing with her baby sister but is in constant competition with her poor easy going, chilled, low maintenance older brother.

She is brilliant at school (full time pre school since last September). She is used to me working (3 days a week since she was 1yo)

She is just incessant and non stop.

Love her to pieces and feel nasty for even semi complaining as baby is disabled and in time I'll long for her to "drive me mad" like her sister does.

Anyone else with a very chatty, energetic child???

My DD 4 is the same. I work 3 days too and she does a mix of childminder and Pre School, although she is in bed earlier than your DD around 7pm.
I just know she's really ready for school and I feel when she starts in September she will be worn out (I'm hoping) and maybe won't talk as much or run around the lounge 😂

Everyone said that when she went full time, she'd be more tired.

She isn't Shock in fact she seems to have more energy now than ever!!! Grin

Tick tick tick, reading your list I have the exact same 4yo dd.
She has a running commentary on life in general. She never stops talking, she also sings her feelings and general goings on.She dances nd swirls instead of walking and will not watch more than ten minutes of TV. When I went out with friends for dinner last week she asked a million questions on the menu . However she is a great sleeper. She wont start school till Sept 12 months but loves preschool.
My mum says I was the exact same at that age, she charms the pants off old ladies. But my God she is exhausting!

Yes my 5yo, touching, talking, singing, forever putting on a show to I don't know who!

My ds is 5 and exactly the same. The phrase 'there are too many syllables coming out of your mouth' is a pretty common one.

It's like a stream of consciousness that absolutely must be verbalised.

He's in full time school now and showing no signs of slowing down, but lots of promise in terms of having a great thirst for knowledge, so it's not all bad. I've even learned a few interesting things myself answering his endless questions (such as why are crows black, why are some people so mean, did they have ice cream before there were freezers (yes) how did they keep it cold (sawdust and big blocks of ice), if stars are different colours why do they all look white in the sky, how do bees make honey etc etc)
