That lovely period of quiet

When the DC and DH are all still asleep and you sneak downstairs for a quiet coffee. Aaaaaaah.

If DC is sleeping this late at 2, will I ever see them once they hit teens?!?

EssentialHummus · 23/06/2019 08:52

Oh, best part of my day sometimes!

Namaste6 · 23/06/2019 08:52

My favourite time of day!! Sitting in the peace and quiet with my dog and a coffee while the rest of the house sleeps. Perfect! 🙂

Readytogogogo · 23/06/2019 08:53

Enjoy it. I've not had a moment like that since DD2 was born...

KatnissMellark · 23/06/2019 08:54

@Drogonssmile I know how lucky I am. And I know it can change in an instant, and that it's nothing to do with my parenting but DC inheriting DH lazy bugger genes.

Oh yes! It’s my favourite time, though it depends how the guest digs are behaving. If my own dog heads me and wakes up, it’s game over. Noisy wee fecker! Angry

I have a whole gleeful weekend of this! DH and I were supposed to be away at a party for the weekend and DCs going to their dads. DH suddenly had to go overseas for work on Friday for a week and the kids went to their dads anyway. Oh god I've had the best most self indulgent weekend and I haven't even had a drink yet! I've been to the gym, walked, tidied, eaten what I wanted, watched what I wanted...got a friend coming for lunch and still all day today and tomorrow until school pick up. I feel ever so smug!!

ipswichwitch · 23/06/2019 08:57

I have yet to experience this - ridiculous early risers here 🙄
I’m biding my time until they’re teenagers and hopefully, if my brother was anything to go by, sleep in til lunchtime. Or I might exact revenge for the years of shit sleep and night wakings by letting off an air horn at them every half hour

Bwekfusth · 23/06/2019 08:58

My boys (4 and 6) have been up since 6 despite going to bed at 9. They go downstairs and turn on the tv and find tedious minecraft videos to watch on YouTube. Just emerged from my pit leaving OH snoring and am sat in the garden with a cup of tea in silence. Lovely

gerbo · 23/06/2019 08:58

I have from approx 7-715 each weekday morning - after making packed lunch/laying out breakfast/hanging out laundry - I sit with my tea and Mumsnet! Wow betide any children who stir during this precious time!
Then I trudge upstairs to wake them (I enjoy that bit too actually) and the craziness begins- I love that 15 mins though!

Adversecamber22 · 23/06/2019 09:05

I got up at 6.30, drank tea in the garden for half an hour then went on my Xox for 1.5 hours and went on a huge winning streak and came top of my team multiple times. Wonder how those teens would feel to know they got wrecked by a middle aged woman. Both dc always slept 10 and even sometimes 12 hours from when they were put to bed, I know I was lucky.
