I dreamt I was on the toilet and wet the bed

So angry and upset with myself.

I assume I was in a deep sleep, didn't have a massive amount of fluids last night and no alcohol.

We've just spent near on a grand on decorating including new bedroom furniture, carpet and mattress.

I have no idea how bad mattress is because dp asleep. Even the carpet is wet from where I dashed to the toilet.

Has anyone else done this? Confused

PS Meant to say, perhaps it does happen more often but people don't admit it.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 23/06/2019 07:55

I’ve done this - in a v deep sleep. Haven’t done or again in 16 years. Bicarbonate of soda regular sprinkled over and hoovered up should sort it out.

londonrach · 23/06/2019 07:59

@ArgyMargy

Its alot more common than you think. I know it happened to me once as a teen. No alcohol involved, just vv tried that night. Mum said it happened to her too. People dont discuss it hence why you not heard it. Luckily just the once for me. Saying that ive since learnt due to my job that alot of adults do reguarly wet the bed, due to medication etc. Op..dont worry.

SpanishTiles · 23/06/2019 08:01

I once dreamt I was at the dentist and woke up spitting all over pillow thinking it was the mouth rinse they give you 😱

Autumnchill · 23/06/2019 08:04

I dreamt I was on a plane queuing for the toilet. I woke up just as I sat on the loo and started to pee.

Last nights dream was barricading a room from the zombies that come out at night (I'm 45!!) God knows why I dreamt that

FenellaVelour · 23/06/2019 08:05

I'm surprised people think this is normal - I've never heard of anyone who's done this without having been very drunk.

Well you have now.

This happened to me when I was about 17, no alcohol involved at all. The dream was so realistic. I was mortified.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 23/06/2019 08:05

Been there done that OP ..it happens..its really common .Don;t beat yourself up about it.

dementedpixie · 23/06/2019 08:12

I've also done it and wasnt drunk. I woke up at the first gush. I did wake dh and we changed the bed together

EdWinchester · 23/06/2019 08:23

I have never done it but a colleague has, twice.

Not sure about leaving it until morning. Surely it needs addressing asap, as it will soak in and stink.

HolesinTheSoles · 23/06/2019 08:31

I did once as a teenager one of the first nights I had my boyfriend over.

jollyohh · 23/06/2019 08:55

When this has happened to me it's been a sign of a uti

User10fuckingmillion · 23/06/2019 08:58

Why would you be angry and upset with yourself? You couldn’t help it!

Accountant222 · 23/06/2019 08:59

I'm very surprised I haven't done this yet, I have the bursting to wee dream at least once a week and then I find a suitable place to do one, but I'm still in bed. Last time I was on the balcony at Buckingham Palace with the royals, Prince William said, just hang on for couple of minutes and you can go inside! Wtf.

CherryPavlova · 23/06/2019 09:03

I can’t say it’s happened to me but I think that a new mattress is only way forward. The smell of stale urine is notoriously difficult to eradicate. If it was just a superficial spot then you might be able to sort it but if it was sufficient to sink into deeper layers, I think you’d need to visit the John Lewis website.

dalmatianmad · 23/06/2019 09:14

Thanks everyone, bedding all stripped and in wash, mattress not really too bad think I must have woken up as it started!
Yes I left my dp asleep, he has MH problems and most of his meds are prescribed at night, he takes Zopicline so waking him would have been too difficult and stressful, so shoot me now, I made the decision to leave him asleep Blush

When I told him this morning he gave me a big hug and told me not too worry and asked if I was ok. I've got no UTI symptoms.

I'm a qualified nurse and can't think of anything medical. Think I just drank shit loads of water yesterday because it was warmer and slept well last night.

Thanks everyone Flowers

You need an enzyme spray for pet wee, we use simple solution platinum as it's a foam aerosol so powers through. Just hold the nozzle on the mattress so it goes in, blot to remove the stain and then spray more. Then smother in bicarb and leave to dry with the windows open for at least the day. Then just vacuum. Repeat.
The dog did a wee in the spare room bed and I did this twice and there is no smell or stain at all. Same on the carpet.
If it makes you feel better, I did the exact same when drunk, sharing a bed with my sister, dreamt I was in the nice warm sea, thought I'd have a sneaky little wee....

ItookYourJob · 23/06/2019 09:22

Never use a toilet in your dream - it’s a trap!

Roselinemac · 23/06/2019 09:22

When I was very young I pee'd in my ex boyfriends wardrobe all over his jeans lol. I just kind of leant backwards and cocked my leg up. It was after a heavy night of drinking and weird dreams. I was so embarrassed, I've never done anything like that since.

bigredvase · 23/06/2019 09:25

I did this as a teen.

ArgyMargy · 23/06/2019 09:34

I wasn't criticising - just genuinely surprised. I hadn't thought of UTIs as I've never had one. Perhaps this is another reason to -start- continue with those pelvic floor exercises..

LarkDescending · 23/06/2019 09:47

I’ve had this recurring dream all my life! (This one and the “exam looming that you haven’t revised for” one). Fortunately since I was about 10 I’ve sort of recognised it while I was in the dream and have managed to wake up in time. Nothing to be ashamed of OP.

Love the Buckingham Palace version pp mentioned! Not had that one yet Smile

Iwantacookie · 23/06/2019 09:52

Happened to me once at a sleepover I was about 13. I was mortified in a room full of girls so just moved and by morning no one had noticed.
I vaguely remember it happening once since then but I didn't fully pee it was just a dribble.

dalmatianmad · 23/06/2019 09:53

I don't feel so embarrassed now after hearing some of your stories!

DP did ask why I didn't wake him so he could help strip the bed, he's so difficult to wake after his anti psychotic's and his zopiclone! Hope you all have a lovely Sunday whatever you are all doing today...
I start my night shifts tonight Hmm

koolaider · 23/06/2019 12:06

Both me and my husband have done this OP. These things happen.

Enjoy your Sunday Smile
