unaware of bail at address

Can someone use your address for bail without you knowing about it? Or do you have to sign or something to say ok?

I think they just need proof of address; so the station could call someone to confirm their address. I got a call asking me to confirm the address of a guy I tutored at uni!

I’m in NI but I know here it has to be checked that they have your consent and the police can veto some proposed bail addresses (example if you were released on bail and tried to use an address of a friend/family member who was also known to police etc). I assume it’s the same in the rest of the UK but hopefully someone will be along to clarify!

This isn't looking good. Dp just found out his brother has used his address for bail but he hasn't been informed. So he must be lying about it. then again no access to phone calls. Any letters may have been hidden.
