He wants to reinvigorate the centre. Lots of chat about strength in bringing together diverse views, eccentricity of British people, getting out and around the country.

His toddler was the main heckler.

I finished my beer and he was still mobbed so I left. It was interesting, a much younger crowd than Tory MPs are usually used to I bet. Clever choice of venue for that.

He has never claimed to be anything other than a Tory. Of COURSE he has voted with the Tory whip as a backbench young politician. I am frankly more amazed that people find that surprising. The reason I find Stewart of interest is that he is a pragmatist who isn't claiming lies to get votes. It is entirely unsurprising that a Tory voted in supports Tory policies.

He is still interesting and one to watch.

Corbyn had thoroughly demonstrated why all good political leaders need pragmatism to temper their principles. Policies cannot always be the way you want them to be and if, like Corbyn, you cannot wholeheartedly get behind agreed policies of your party because you don't personally believe in them, you end up with half hearted non-leadership like we have seen from Labour recently.

I am not a Tory, he did say some interesting and entertaining things in his campaign but it's all about the doing. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.
