Had anyone seen The Tiger who came to tea on stage?

My 2 year old has recently decided he loves the book and it is on stage near us soon. I am contemplating taking him with little expectation of him actually sitting through it.

Does anyone know;
Will the theatre be very dark or will it stay slightly lit with it being a children’s performance?
Is the tiger scary?
Any sudden or really loud bits?
How closely is the story followed?

It’s great, me and my DD loved it. The overall story is the same but it veers off in places because some of it is sung. And instead of walking to the cafe they go in a car. I don’t know why that stuck in my head 😁 the details are great - the kitchen and Sophie’s costume are perfect (although Sophie was at least 30 years old 🤣). The tiger isn’t scary at all. There’s a bit of audience participation - clapping/joining in one of the songs. It wasn’t very dark in our venue but that might depend on the theatre. Hope you enjoy it!

I have!

Years ago actually but we loved it.

We still sing one of the songs now!

‘A knock at the door! Who could it be?!’

We saw it a few years ago. It was not at all scary. The lights were down, but it wasn't a bit problem.

I didn't think it was that good, though. The story had to be seriously stretched out with trying to get the audience to repeatedly join in with a song that went on far too long.

It's on near me soon OP. I'm taking my 2 year old granddaughter. I've taken my whole Reception class before...it's not scary at all 👍

I took DD to see it last year, she loved it. The tiger isn't scary and our theatre wasn't very dark even when the lights were dimmed. It was about an hour long iirc.

Here's a clip for you...
We saw it over ten years ago, and the audience filled with small children loved it!

It is different....but it's definitely worth getting tickets...great fun! downthetubes.net/?p=105602
