My nomination for CF of the year, 2019

Train to London yesterday, sitting in 2+2 forward facing seats with DH. Guy in row in front (in front of DH so I could see what he was doing through the space between the headrests) busy reading through a highlighted drama script (ToBasildon) , so probably an actor.

Ticket inspector arrives to check tickets, we show ours, guy in front fumbles with his phone, presumably to show an e-ticket, doesn't seem to be able to get it up on his screen, so asks the inspector to come back in a few minutes. Inspector agrees, moves up the coach and moves on to the next one.

Guy in front goes back to his phone, gets out a credit/debit card, and buys a ticket on-line, ready for the inspector's return.

Inspector never returned.

Does it really matter? Maybe he just forgot

Samcro · 17/06/2019 10:05

sorry not getting the CF bit

jomaIone · 17/06/2019 10:07

🤔

Whynotnowbaby · 17/06/2019 10:07

That’s not really the Mumsnet description of a cf. How do his actions affect you and why is him being an actor relevant? I feel let down as I love a good cf story.

Kintan · 17/06/2019 10:19

I don't get it, maybe he forgot to buy a ticket? How is he a cf, let alone cf of the year?

TheInvestigator · 17/06/2019 10:23

What? How on earth does that story relate to your thread title?
He forgot to buy a ticket, and then he bought one. He just didn't want to deal with thebtucket inspector lording it over him.

Hwory · 17/06/2019 10:23

Lol what? No... not at all

Bufferingkisses · 17/06/2019 10:27

He as hoping not to have to buy one hence c.f. it's a common ruse and the inspector probably sat chuckling to himself that c.f. had now bought a ticket and he'd not gone back so c.f.could be frustrated at not having got away with it.

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/06/2019 10:28

Exactly Buffering

gottastopeatingchocolate · 17/06/2019 10:37

Nahhh - doesn't even make the short list!

Read some of the current threads - when you are bringing your husband along to a paid for girl's holiday and demanding the best room, then you can expect to get shortlisted for CF of the year.

This doesn't make the grade for me, sorry!

My cf story of 2019 is ds asking for a lift on Sunday. Across town to pick him up, drop off the other side-where I live. Significant road works in all directions. Request for collection and drop back.
Ds is 24, has own house and car, and ft job. Did remind him about the existence of The Taxi - he said he wasn't paying fare to get stuck in roadworks!!
He rang for pick up when i was in bed!
Pick up politely refused.
Cf!

OK. I surrender.

I know someone who works as a ticket inspector on the trains and he says that approx every 10th passenger has willing not bought a ticket and will not buy a ticket unless challenged. On some sections on certain routes, 80% of passengers have on purposely not bought a ticket as they see it as a free travel service!

Anyway my nomination for CF of 2019 occurred this morning & is the housing association who I privately rented my home through, and left months ago. They seem to expect me to go round and let in the workman who's going round to do a repair this morning! Bearing in mind that I'm not their tenant any more and that the HA had let the property fall into such disrepair that we were forced to move ( a whole different thread) and they have left the house empty since) and that I obviously returned the keys - how do they expect me to let a workman in? So Julie (not her real name) if you have the keys, how can I possibly help you out?????? Bizarre!

So A* Housing Association - you are utter CF's for even asking!!! And you are definitely SF's (Selfish F*ckers) for leaving a lovely 3 bed family house empty when local families are in need of housing because you can't be arsed to get around to repairing it. And for letting it fall into such disrepair that you drive a family out because they wanted a rat free environment with heating and actual running water!!! Gits....
