I am in LOVE ( for instrument lovers)

I never spend on myself, but started learning classical guitar a year ago after a few years general playing and have spent every spare moment practising and my teacher suggested I upgraded my cheapy and got a decent guitar. (£1k worth)
So I did. Yesterday.
It's like being handed the keys to a Range Rover after driving a 1999 Nissan Micra. I had no idea how at even my level it could sound SO different.

I may sleep with it tonight Grin

And I keep finding my two guitarists boys sneaking over for a quick play.

No point to this post, I am just so amazed at the difference and just wish I had taken it up 30 years ago!

I remember sitting at a Steinway after teaching myself to play on a ropy old ex-pub upright. Was literally gobsmacked 🤗

How wonderful. Enjoy your new ‘Range Rover’ upgrade. I totally get the love and not being able to quite believe the difference playing a great instrument makes.

My DB has just got a new piano and similarly described it as going from a BMW to a Ferrari.

Maybe 30 years ago you’d not have had the mindset to get as much out of learning as you’re able to do now. So much depends on determination, practice as well as natural talent and you can make really amazing progress at almost any age with those in place.

If you do take your guitar to bed make sure you don’t turn over and squash it 😀

Happy Days OP, really pleased for you.
You may well joke about sleeping with it tonight.
I came home once to find a mark v1sax in my bed Grin
Completely get your analogy, now go practise.

DC1 was similar when we upgraded the Squire to a Fender American Elite (post GCSE reward). The quality of an instrument genuinely does make so much difference.

Enjoy your new guitar Smile
