Recording family stories / memories on iPhone - best free app?

I’d really like to start recording some conversations with older relatives. They are happy to do this but just wondering what the best app is to use ?
Someone mentioned that they need to record as MP3 ‘s ?? but the voice memo app on the phone seems to record as M4A (??) and the ‘voice recorder’ app I downloaded only allows 1 minutes at a time to be recorded.

Any recommendations ? Ideally free but if not then best for reasonable amount.

And if anyone else has done this any tips ?

Thanks ...

just use the voice recorder app that comes with the iphone, you dont need to record as MP3

Thanks chips - sorry for really basic question ... but if you do that and it’s not MP3 can it then be emailed and saved onto other things like a pc or a portable hard drive ? (Where Could then be edited together.)
Thanks !

most audio players will be able to play the file and if they dont you could get a convertor to mp3 program

Excellent idea. I’m writing my stories for my great grandchildren as well as my grandchildren
But it takes so long

Rather than on my phone..is there somewhere where they can be stored

Dowser I was planning to email them to myself from my phone and then save onto a portable hard drive. Don’t know if that’s the best way though.
