What shampoo to stop itchy scalp for coloured hair?

I have an itchy scalp and have tried no parabens, no sulphates etc and it’s still itchy. Head and shoulders itchy scalp works but it strips my colour really badly! Can anyone recommend anything for coloured hair please?

No idea about the coloured hair part but my mum swears by using nizoral

What sls free have you tried? Some, eg the OGX ones aren’t really much better than ones with sls in IME.

I’ve got on well with a few of these:

Especially the Aubrey organics. Did take a while bottle before my scalp settled down, but now it’s fine on any SLS free.

For a quick fix, Nizoral is good and won’t strip colour. I’d maybe try that and then move onto a sulphate free one.

Lush 'Soak and Float' shampoo bar has worked really well on my sensitive scalp; I rarely get itching or flaking now (unless I overdo it with other products).

Ok thanks.

Iv tried high street ones ‘free’ of whatever it’s meant to be free from and then an expensive one from the hairdresser which is the same make as the hair colour.

Have you tried the head and shoulders colour protect?

MrsElizabethShelby · 14/06/2019 07:17

Op are you rinsing properly? I ask because for the last couple of years I have had an itchy scalp and I have been panicking that I am starting to develop psoriasis on my scalp (I have it on other areas of my body) despite DH and hairdressers telling me my scalp is clear.

I started washing my hair with my head tipped forward (boring reasons) and the itch stopped. Then it suddenly dawned on my that I may not have been rinsing product thoroughly causing itchyness and white flakes from residue. Washing with my head tipped forward seems to give a better rinse at the roots.

Yeah Iv thought about rinsing and I actually now count 2 whole minutes (after the initial washing out the shamp and cond) and that hasn’t helped.

Iv used the head and shoulders colour protect but it makes my hair go an odd colour with a funny tinge to it.
