1 slice or 2 slice? I'd put something dairy too e.g. yogurt

On paper, no probably not but kids do all eat differently and it depends if they’re hungry during the day or snack

My 3yo charge - no, she eats her biggest meal at lunch then barely touches dinner

Her 5yo brother - yes and you’d be lucky if he finished it

I’d probably put more in but if he ate all of it I know he wouldn’t be hungry.

How long will he have to wait for more food? My son is at nursery 9-3pm but then goes to a teatime club where he gets a meal. He usually has a sandwich, some cherry toms and carrot sticks, some mini cheddar or Pom bear type crisps (prob half a packet), two or three chopped fruits in a pot eg strawberry/satsuma/grapes and a small sweetish thing eg mini oat biscuit/Soreen bar/fruit flavoured rice cake. He has a long day and he eats it all. Sometimes if he has a ham sandwich we put a babybel in or some humus for the veg sticks, about once a week a yoghurt.

My 3 year old takes a packed lunch to nursery and it covers snack time and lunch.

I normally give him:

  • banana
  • yoghurt
  • ella’s kitchen cereal bar or similar
  • babybel
  • sandwich made from two slices of bread

Mine has a sandwich, fruit, yogurt, cheese and a mini pack of cookies or something.

2 slices of bread. They are at nursery only for 1 more hour before they come home to snack.

I would add a yogurt and some cheese , but you know your child. I'm a dinner lady and some of our 3 year olds have jam packed lunch boxes and some only have a main (sandwich, wrap , pasta), some fruit and a yogurt. Everyone's different.

Lollyice · 11/06/2019 21:24

Ds has 3/4 cheese sandwich, yo bears snack and a small homemade banana muffin. Occasionally doesn't eat it all.
If he ate fruit I'd probably send sandwiches and a banana.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 11/06/2019 21:34

Yes if they're having a snack an hour later.
I work in a nursery and the amount of food parents put in lunch boxes is ridiculous!
