Any pharmacists/pharmacists assistants around?

Over the last few weeks there have been major supply issues with two medications I’m on. My pharmacy has rung round all their branches and can’t get either and aren’t sure when they will. Another drug I’ve been on now isn’t being manufactured anymore. The pharmacy assistant says there’s lots of drugs they’re having problems obtaining.

Does anyone know what’s going on? I’ve not had this problem before but suddenly there seems to be major issues getting hold of things.

Is one of them Montelukast by any chance?

many factors are possible.
quality issues is the most common one usually.
however this year a new falsified medicine legislation came into force which means new tamper proof packaging and the transition is unfortunately not as smooth as possible.

what medicines are that?

One is hiprex (methanenamine). No one seems able to get that at the moment.

The other is all HRT conti patches. Again none available and have now been told I’ll need to take tablets instead.

Angeliq HRT no longer manufactured.
