Was that my imagination or did we just have Florida type lightning in Northwest London?

Not sure op, but it could have travelled up to you from Devon, where we had some pretty hefty lightening an hour or so ago!

I saw a friend of mine posting on Facebook from the Isle of Man today, and it was sunny and blue sky… Maybe that will come over here too? Hopefully…

I have the oven on, and at that one big club seems to be the only thing that I've heard. But it was so loud!

Had some in Essex about 1/2 hour ago ... got very excited

I didn't hear anything (N London) but did just see a single big flash about 15 mins ago

My room (Islington) lit up briefly, and heard thunder. What do you mean by Florida type?

Yes. Just north of NW LDN . Sheet lightning and firm lightning. Was amazing.

Absent minded, I grew up in Florida and in the summertime we have a 4 o'clock lightning show nearly every day… With really scary lightning. My mothers house was struck once, thankfully nobody was at home… anyway, I was surprised when I first moved to London how little thunder and lightning it hard, and when it did have lightning or thunder, you could barely even hear it. The lightning and thunder clap tonight was big and loud. Like Florida.

Plural I am register blind and I have the curtains closed, I saw the flash and thought… Was that just my eye doing something it shouldn't be doing… And then I heard the huge clap of thunder.
