Heart loves yellow sofa, head says grey. Which one wins?

Will I be forever cleaning a yellow one and rue the day I got it?

Covers are removable/washable and it's only me using it at present but there are grandchildren on the way.

Yellow! You only live once. I'd love a yellow sofa but with two tiny ones it's probably not a great idea.

jamaisjedors · 08/06/2019 18:12

I was in the same position - but then IKEA stopped doing the yellow anyway so we had to get the grey (we had already narrowed down the comfort factor).

Now I'm pleased and we have got bright yellow and blue cushions for it and it looks great - and no nagging people about not eating on the sofa!

I still probably would have gone for the yellow if they'd had it but with hindsight this was a better decision.

Yellow as it's washable!

Grey with yellow cushions.

Still undecided. Confused

As previously suggested grey with yellow cushions.

HypatiaCade · 08/06/2019 18:48

Follow the heart, and get some throws to cover it up for the grandchildren!

flowery · 08/06/2019 18:50

Can we see pics?

CitadelsofScience · 08/06/2019 18:50

If my dh would have agreed to a yellow sofa then we'd have got one. Unfortunately the only agreed colour was grey, I've put yellow cushions on it.

Sicario · 08/06/2019 18:53

Don't get the grey. I got the grey. What was I thinking?

LittleLongDog · 08/06/2019 18:54

Yellow! Unless it’s a very dark grey surely you’d also have to washing it at some point.

moonpiggle · 08/06/2019 19:01

Yellow sofa sound way nicer than grey, i think grey is just dull. Get the yellow 😊

Sicario · 08/06/2019 19:08

I can confirm that as moonpiggle says, the grey is dull. Really dull. I don't know why somebody didn't stop me.

RavenLG · 08/06/2019 19:16

We got mustard. 2 adults no kids had it a year an no cleaning needed (apart from a tiny bit where DP spilled juice) looks great still

Innersmellbow · 08/06/2019 19:18

flowery - its the IKEA ektorp 3 seater sofa.

I've had the grey previously some years ago. I loved it but am reluctant to have the same again. I've also had one in denim blue - if I'd been able to keep it I wouldn't be stuck trying to decide if my bravardo level is high enough for yellow.

OP posts:
Sunshinegirl82 · 08/06/2019 19:22

Can't you change the covers on the ektorp? Can you get both and switch?

gotmychocolateimgood · 08/06/2019 19:56

You could get some massive throws to put on it when little kids are around.

littlecabbage · 08/06/2019 19:58

Def yellow with throws for grandchildren. I have a grey sofa and young children, and often have to wash the covers anyway due to their messiness, so throws are a great idea if kids only around occasionally.

Cherry83 · 08/06/2019 20:08

Yellow 😀

jamaisjedors · 12/06/2019 06:36

So?????

Innersmellbow · 12/06/2019 07:59

So... I ordered the grey... but am so wishing I ordered the yellow. Sad

Perhaps that will change when they arrive on Saturday and I don't have to worry at all about putting my feet up!

I think some yellow cushions are waiting to be discovered to bring some pizazz!

Yes maybe!! I am enjoying my grey sofa and yellow and blue cushions!

Hope you enjoy yours too.

Bluntness100 · 12/06/2019 17:55

Totally the right decision. Grey you can decorate round, even have yellow walls. Yellow is much harder. A neutral sofa is often rhe best choice.
