Pregnant and just lifted something heavy

Currently 12 weeks pregnant and abit of a worrier. Needed to move a box which I thought just had wires in it so wouldn't be heavy. It was and as soon as I lifted felt a pulling sensation in my abdomen. I instantly dropped it but know worrying I have done some damage. Has anyone done anything similar? I'm not in any pain or anything so feel silly ringing the midwife.

You'll be fine, I work with dogs and was lifting labradors and German shepherds until I finished at 8 months.

Your baby is well protected in the womb.

I think I read when I was pregnant that it’s not the lifting that’s the dangerous part it’s the fact your centre of gravity has changed if you have a bump so you’re more likely to fall. If you haven’t fallen I’m sure you’ll be fine.

If you have another baby you’ll be lumping a much heavier toddler around when you’re pregnant...

I have to say I was chasing and handling pregnant ewes whilst pregnant with my first, so I think you’ll be fine. But in hindsight I should have been more careful and the advice I had when pregnant with my second (and I stood on a child’s chair that buckled and sent me crashing to the floor with a bump) was to come in for a scan if I started spotting.

I’m sure you will be ok but understand why you are concerned.

Surprisingly, there are quite a few female weightlifters!

Your tendons loosen with pregnancy due to relaxin. Heavy lifting can’t harm your baby, it’s more that you’re more prone to back problems or injuries due to your looser joints.

I can understand why you’re worried (I worried about everything with my first) but I honestly don’t think you need to worry about this. As pp have said, when pregnant with my second I was quite frequently carrying a toddler around, and I am pretty sure a toddler is heavier than you box of stuff. Congratulations on your pregnancy though Flowers

I moved my washing machine from the hall into the kitchen when I was 6 months pregnant.

I'm a stubborn arse. My DP had it delivered but not plumbed in then went out. I was determined to use it so I moved it and plumbed it in. The kitchen was just off the hall.

DS is now almost 18 and I had a healthy pregnancy.
