Hi

Sorry for the grossness

Just wondering if this looks infected or just healing?

It's not hot or painful around the area and the redness isn't spreading out.
It's just the whiteness of it really. It's firm not oozy

Thank you

Ouch!

It’s a bit difficult to see in the photo but if the cut isn’t red, hot, painful or swollen and the white stuff isn’t oozing like pus then it’s probably just part of the healing process. I’d keep an eye on it for now but I’d be straight off to the doctors if I had any concerns, as it’s quite close to her eye and because it’s on her face you don’t want it to scar too badly.

Hope it heals quickly! Flowers

It looks to me like it needed some of those steri strips on it to reduce scarring, or even a stitch.
If the red area gets bigger it could mean it's infected. I think I would get it checked out by a nurse at the surgery, wouldn't matter so much if it wasn't in such a visible place, but it could leave quite a mark.

That needs steri stripping or you're going to be left with a huge scar.

What others have said. That urgently needs some attention to minimise scarring, never mind infection.

meepmoop · 07/06/2019 12:50

Thanks everyone I'll call the doctors.
It didn't look like much could be done when I first happened. It's not a cut but a flap of skin was pushed down and stuck back where it was so there was no movement in it to pull it together.

I'll get it looked at.

I remember your other thread, have you used the big blister plasters as suggested? That should make it dry though rather than soggy I would think.

I would bathe it with sat water and steri strip it now and maybe use a lint free dressing to keep it dry.

At the very least drop into a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to have a look at it - no appointment needed

dottycat123 · 07/06/2019 13:02

Did you get it seen when it happened? It looks as if it should have been glued and steri-stripped. Even if you are prescribed antibiotics it may be too late to create a tidy wound. I would get it looked at today.

Seaandsand83 · 07/06/2019 14:08

When did this happen? Definitely looks like it should have been glued!

Thanks everyone, I've been to the pharmacist as advised by the doctors surgery and they've said it's okay and to keep an eye on it.
As it's a stuck down flap there isn't anything they can do to it. As it heals underneath it'll push the flap up and it'll probably come off.
Hoping it doesn't look to bad when it's healed.
