It's a big birthday party for a friend. I'm short, bit of a tummy, decent legs, size 14ish.
Is this outfit freakish or fabulous? And what shoes does it need?

I love this with a nice tan

I promise I don't always dress up as a disco ball.

I have a maxi silver sequin skirt which I wear with a t-shirt and trainers. Like the picture. I just wish I had her figure

Its great (sequins make everything better!) but definitely for a festival or clubbing event rather than a normal party.

Maybe just get a sequin top to wear with skinny jeans or black trousers if you want sequins depending on how formal the event is?

BillyAndTheSillies · 07/06/2019 08:29

Going against the grain, I love this!
But then I go to lots of House and Disco festivals and outrageous sequins are quite a normal look for them.
I would definitely wear it, but not sure it's right for just a party. It's more festival wear.

Oblomov19 · 07/06/2019 08:32

Me too. GrinNever knew this topic existed on MN. Who knew?

stillnotjustamummy · 07/06/2019 09:08

It's a massive 50th bash in France. Everyone else will run from super casual to fabulous evening wear... if it helps, I have fuschia coloured hair...

I would wear this to a festival. But I am wearing sequins to work today!

amymel2016 · 07/06/2019 09:33

I like it OP but probably not for that occasion. What about something like this: www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/dresses/midi-dresses/product.ombré-sequin-midi-dress-red.0683794001.html?gclid=CJDozOP61uICFVBB0wodZkwNbA

NoBaggyPants · 07/06/2019 09:33

Media types won't be in sequins, I'd expect more of an understated but with an edge look from them. Have you looked at Cos? Completely the opposite to what you're going for, but more appropriate for what you describe.

Figgygal · 07/06/2019 09:35

Oh dear definitely not with the batwing sleeves

I kind of like it for a one off event only (but that's not very env friendly). I could only wear it if I was in my 20's, had a great tan and was in ibiza or similar....

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 07/06/2019 09:41

Well you would certainly not be invisible, but you would need to be quite fabulous to carry it off well.

"Is this nice?" is a genius topic!

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 07/06/2019 09:43

I am tall, size 14 and carry my weight on my stomach. I have never tried on a playsuit that suits my figure. If you're short and have a biggish tummy, any playsuit will make you look much shorter and rounder. Especially this one!!

Politicalacuityisathing · 07/06/2019 09:46

I love to see women wearing something they love with confidence. You could try with heels (like Taylor Swift) but I would prefer flat sandals or trainers if you've got good legs. Try it on though. You will know whether it's right or not. If it makes you want to give a wee shimmy, then it's a go-er. If it make you want to fold your arms or put on a cardi, re-think.

BarbarAnna · 07/06/2019 09:46

Yeah. It’s not very flattering. I expect the model is very slim but she kind of looks like an apple if you squint. Maybe it’s the colour that’s not helping?

Deadringer · 07/06/2019 09:48

Sequins aside, it will make you look dumpy op. It makes me think of Gemma in Corrie, not a good look for the occasion you have described.

WatcherOfTheNight · 07/06/2019 09:54

I love a jumpsuit but this is a bit much for me .
But,if you love it and can carry it off go for it.

Are you going to post a pic of it on with shoes etc ?

SinglePringle · 07/06/2019 11:29

Media types won't be in sequins

See earlier post. Am a ‘media type’.

llangennith · 07/06/2019 18:32

Omg no!

DontPanic42 · 07/06/2019 18:42

I actually really like it!

stillnotjustamummy · 14/06/2019 23:08

It arrived!
I do kind of love it, but am possibly deluded...

Oh dear, I have to say I think it looks less than great OP. Looks like you've stolen a 5 year Old's outfit. You have a great figure and could do much better, how about this from very?

Op,
I love sequins but I think it drowns your figure. Could you find one that isn't so baggy at the top?
