They're so peculiar! We had a German exchange student 25 years ago who was utterly besotted with them and was very disappointed that we in Ireland were not much like them.

They were massive in Germany when I lived there. I had many a conversation with people trying to explain they just weren’t a thing in the UK!

Never heard of them before! It's like Ennio Morricone crossed with the Clancy Brothers.

At the risk of this being potentially outing: Lived in Germany and Switzerland in the 90s due to my parents' jobs. They were huge.

Paddy Kelly was my teenage crush - so much so that I dated an utter moron for several months just because he looked a bit like him.

Kind of cooled off rapidly after he publicly went anti-abortion. Finding out I valued my feminism over cute boys was kind of a life-defining moment ...
