What to do/where to go / long lazy lunch in central London tomorrow?

Just seen the weather forecast... off to London tomorrow to meet my best friend for the day. Doesn't look like our planned saunter along the south bank is going to be happening!

We basically want to make the most of it whilst being able to talk non-stop. And have lunch. We have to be in London Bridge for 6pm but otherwise free.

Any ideas / recommendations? For weather reasons Portobello / Kings Road is out I guess. I was wondering about the bar at the Oxo Tower? Don't want to spend masses though.

Pretty easy on area and type of food, love Middle Eastern / Chinese / Thai etc. She has a tiny appetite, I have a big one Grin

Prince is an upmarket Italian deli where I never feel awkward plonking yourself at the window and spending a solo hour watching the world go by. The authentic pizzas are to die for.
Brawn on Columbia Road in East London is an outstanding restaurant and does a great lunch menu with dishes under £10. I’ve seen people in there for work meetings and they occupy the table for ages and nobody minds.
The J+A cafe is tucked away in a sleeply courtyard in Clerkenwell equidistant from Old St and Farringdon. It serves home-made stews, pies, salad and quiches to eat in or takeaway. Perfect for a bit of peace and quiet.

Cheap afternoon tea upstairs in the Wellcome Collection?
BFI bar for coffee/cocktails?

Sorry I meant Princi. It’s in Soho.

I don’t know if it’s more than you’re looking to spend, but with that brief I’d be heading to Ottolenghi in Spitalfields and then having a meander around the market afterwards Smile

The Cinnamon Club does a good weekend lunch, and because it is in Westminster, it's quiet at the weekend. Modern Indian. Delicious.
