Who do I ring to ask a question about a visa for travel to Australia?

Sorry for stupid question but I've never dealt with visas before! Is it just the Australian Embassy? Or UK passport office? Or...?

Basically my teenager is being taken on holiday to Australia by family, and I've been told her passport should have 6 months validity to get a visa. But the Australian visa website doesn't specify anything about validity, and her passport will have 6 months on the day she travels out but just under 6 months on the day she travels back.

So I obviously need to get this clarified but don't know who to ring and would rather not ring Australia from my mobile unless it's absolutely necessary Confused

Australian embassy, the number to call is easy to find if you Google it

Should give you up to date info.

Visa is electronic application. Who has said about 6months on the passport? Dontbthink it's a requirement for a British passport holder visiting Aus.

According to this your passport needs to be valid for the period you are in Australia but no additional period beyond that.

I did google it ( obviously ) but the number it suggested I ring was in Australia and if I can find out without ringing Australia I'd rather do that!

The family members who have booked the flights were told about the 6 months validity. I am just going on what they say, I haven't left the country in 20 odd years and DD has only ever been to France once some years ago so we wouldn't know tbh.
