To think it's crazy that there is a full day assessment for a band 3 NHS admin post

I've applied for the job and got an interview which is a whole day assessment. The morning is spent doing some group work and then if they like you they will interview you in the afternoon otherwise you go home.

I think it's a bit much for an admin interview! Dh earns far more than this and the most he's ever done is a short Impromptu presentation!

Records, I guess? Or orthotics. The bits they don't show on Greys! Grin

It is true that some people get admin jobs with no expectation of having to do any admin.

A friend once hired a temp who it turned out was pretending to work while writing their novel! Another old colleague used to flit in and out of the office with an air of being a senior manager in between meetings.

I still think a day assessment is overkill!

I'm local government, apparently she was very impressive at interview. Admin is so misunderstood.

It's a real issue how the skills you may need to do well at interview often aren't anything like the skills needed for the actual job

Crikey. I got hire into a band 7 job recently (NHS). After a 25 minute interview.
