If you’ve ever had an ovarian cyst...

What did it feel like?
I’ve been feeling a dull ache on one side which sometimes can feel like period pains. I’m also getting pains in my lower back and in my leg? I feel a lot of pressure in my pelvic area and it’s really uncomfortable. Does this sound like it could be caused by a cyst? I’m going to the doctors tomorrow, but I’m just looking for other people’s experiences of this.

I've had three ovarian cysts removed over the years - one being 14cm in diameter, the others were 7cm and 8cm. The pain you described does sound similar to what I experienced. I remember not being able to bend over for long (tying shoes etc) as the pressure in my abdomen/pelvis was too much to take. If I lay flat, I could almost feel the cysts when I pressed down across my pelvis.

If you're really concerned, push for an ultrasound of the area. Cysts can be a sign of endometriosis so if any cysts are found via ultrasound, ask for endo investigations too. Just removing the cysts won't stop them growing back.

Hope everything goes ok tomorrow!

I’ve had ovarian cysts in the past and what you’ve described sound familiar. As PP mentioned an ultrasound would be a useful diagnostic test. Best of luck tomorrow and hopefully you feel better soon.

Mine felt like a sharp pain at times, tugging at others. Couldn't get out of bed or change positions without feeling like I was pulling a muscle.

Sounds familiar and with the odd sharp pain too.

Mine was huge and had over a litre of fluid in it. I felt bloated and trousers were really tight by end of day. Usually had the urge for a pee. I'd get sharp pain in my side especially if I was hunched over for a period of time. Would also get what felt like period pain. Was extremely glad to get rid of the flaming thing.

That must've been so painful. Mine was the size of a plum apparently and that was big enough thank you!

Had a really big one removed which made me look 6 months pregnant. Had ds2 after its removal with no problems at all.

I’ve been referred for a scan so we will see what’s going on.
Thank you for the replies, I’ve just been a bit worried that’s all.
