Cold and green phlem - should I be taking antibiotics?

Ferling abit rough last few days. Full of cold runny eyes now coughing up green plem. No chest pains or wheezing.

Feel slightly better than yesterday. Should I let my body get through it or should I be asking GP for ABs?

Sounds like your body is doing fine shifting it itself. No need for antibiotics from what you've described

BrokenWing · 25/05/2019 11:05

No you don't need anti-bs for a cold virus.

MustardScreams · 25/05/2019 11:06

Antibiotics won’t work for a virus. You just need plenty of fluids and rest and you’ll be fine.

Go to your pharmacy (supermarket one tends to be cheaper) ask them for some ACTI-FED, it stops the watery eyes, helps get rid of the phelm 🤢 also stops yours nose running
They are an absolute god send 😁

It helps massively you can still hock up the phlegm but and blow your nose whilst taking them, so if your worried about suppressing the virus it my opinion nope Smile they cost £3.10 from Tesco

Sounds like it's the later stages of a cold, your body is doing it's job! I rarely get colds but when I do I feel awful so I feel your pain, but ride it out with plenty good food and lots of fluid!

Overseasmom100 · 25/05/2019 11:21

Ah ok will give them a try.

Echinacea is great to give your immune system a boost to shake off infection - I usually take it for a week or so. Get it in any good health store. Kiwi herb brand much stronger than Vogel
