What to do with a possibly broken toe?

After a series or unfortunate events in the bathroom involving a vomiting child, a curious cat and a pissed off dog I think I may have broken my toe.
We have a walk in centre which can do x rays which is fortunate but is there any point going if all they are going to do is strap it to the next toe.? Could I just do that myself? Going anywhere would be quite inconvenient right now due to the vomiting child.

If it's your big toe it needs xrays
Poor you, what a shite start to the day.are you able to sit down and put your foot up on a stool.Flowers

If it's your big toe you need to get it seen to. If it's sticking out at an angle ditto.

Otherwise, I'd just tape it up myself, take painkillers and find shoes that won't aggravate it.

It's my middle toe, the pain is actually making me feel a bit sick (or maybe that's DSs sickness bug). I am sitting down next to poorly DS I will try and find something to put my foot on. Dog is still pissed off as his walk has been abandoned for now.

Ice for as long as possible. Place some a cotton wool pad between it and another toe, and tape it up. Be prepared for a nasty black bruise :(

Great advice from the PP here :) I've broken my toes many times, clumsy + martial arts, not a great combo! Cotton pad between the toes plus tape it to the one next to it and get on with your things. If it's the big toe or the little toe you'll need to get it seen to as those are your big balance toes.

Elevate your foot, and by elevate I mean ABOVE the height of your heart. This isn't just put your foot on a stool, this is get yourself to the point where your foot is way up there. It's not the most comfortable, I found it easier just to lie down on the sofa with a ton of cusions under my foot last time. Rest rest rest.
