There's a squirrel in my house!

I was eating a yogurt in the kitchen and suddenly it was there on the table! It ran around for ages avoiding the open doors and windows and has now disappeared downstairs into the porch. DH is sure it went behind/into the shoe cupboard but I'm not sure, we can't see it anywhere and I've been sat here about an hour waiting for it to come out. I put down cat food to try and entice it out but so far that's only attracted my cat and the barn cats who live outdoors.

Any tips?!

I live overseas so it's not a regular squirrel (Google picture attached) and it is quite cute but I would prefer it not to be in my house! Especially because the cats will destroy it if they can catch it!

Had one in my attic all winter who found a way down to the kitchen alongside the waste pipe and he would come down after dark each night and chew the underside of my kitchen cupboards. Luckily (for him) he couldn't get anywhere else. The noise was unbelievable and I had to do down 2 or 3 times every night to scare the little darling off so we could get some sleep.

Hate the damn things.

Open the door to the outside, shut the door from the porch to inside and let it leave without being scared by you?

They don't eat cat food, but a bit of cheese might attract it. Shoo the cats away, or it'll never come out.
