Really weird parking fine one

I’ve received a PCN (private company not LA) for a car registration that’s not mine. The weird things is, I was in the area that they’ve said which is 200 miles away from my home address.

But, we were in my husbands car so even if the Reg on the letter was wrong, my car was sat outside our house 200 miles away so any letter would have been addressed to him.

Got to be more than a coincidence but I can’t work out how. I’ve called and they said it’s fine, ignore the letter but I just can’t work out how I got a letter for a place I was iyswim.

If the car had been registered in your name though you would have the V5 document for it.

This is happening more and more. I'm on some fb parking ticket groups and only today I've heard of two similar odd things.

One a person has received a ticket to their address but the name on the letter is their mother and the car belongs to their mother. The mother has never lived at that house and the car has never been registered there. He's never owned the car.

The other one someone got a ticket which they ignored so a letter came through. Addressed to her, even though car was registered to her dh and using her maiden name from years ago and was sent to a relatives house!

So weird, I’ve had to write to the DVLA so they can sort the issue but definitely looks like fraud somehow.

Interesting @nicoandtheniners they both sounds similar

Did they say what the company was by any chance?

TPS and BW legal.

Just to clarify, you can SORN a car and still drive it off-road fully legally. And if you live in the country driving on a SORN is quite easy - not condoning breaking the law, but there's so few ANPR / police round here now.
