It's rated 12 and I would say no but dd is telling me half her class have watched it!

Definitely need to watch the others first!

The "shit" scene us funny though

My 17 year old DTS's saw it first and advised me not to take 8 year old DS3 due to one particular scene involving Thor and Thanos and because it made them cry a bit at the end . DS3 was unperturbed and loved it but he has seen all the movies including Captain Marvel which is the only one I've missed so far. That frustrated me as she was introduced in Endgame as if we knew who she was.

You really need to have seen Infinity War at least or you won't have a clue what's going on.

I would say it seems on the child. However if you/they have not seen the previous one(s) it will literally not make any sense at all.
