Rose McGowan abuse online

I didn't want to post this in feminism because I thought it would cover a multitude of topic areas.
This may be a trigger for some with possible discussions on sexual harassment and rape.

I like Rose McGowan. I enjoyed her work in film and TV but her activism is what has really touched me. As a survivor myself, I find it empowering to watch someone face up to their perpetrator. Her most recent interview with Jameela Jamil, another activist, really got me going. I had tears in my eyes and it is my main motivation for this post. It's on their IGtv if you want to search it.

In a video clip of her Citizen Rose series on E! Entertainment, the comments on YouTube have astounded me. The amount of abuse this woman gets for daring to speak out.

"Let's be honest... Rose McGowan is rather unlikable"

"I feel like if I said I was craving jelly beans, Rose McGowan would be offended"

"He paid her. He could have paid more. He didnt. She accepted the payment. It was a transaction. That's all. They both played dirty."

"She knows what sells. She knows playing the victim convinced lemmings to cheer for her."

I find it hard sometimes to know that this is so deeply entrenched in our society. Blame women. Especially blame them for the shit that happens to them.

Is this a battle we can actually win? How do we stop this collective misogyny that even women join in on?
Is there anything you personally try to do to stop this? Do you confront people who say stuff like this?

Maybe some of you have examples of your bravery and courage of confronting this. Would you share them, so that others, including myself, could draw strength from it and do the same?
