What will I do all day?

Long story short, DP is a massive baby. He has a VERY IMPORTANT 2 day job interview/assessment centre today and tomorrow (he stays at the assessment centre overnight).

This is the last stage of a 10 month process, so understandably he was very very nervous and wanted me to come with him even though now I've dropped him off I won't see him until 5pm tomorrow

So anyway, I'm back at the hotel, 500 miles away from home. What will I do all day? I'm pretty skint.

I could lounge around the hotel room all day enjoying the whole no housework and dogs to look after thing or I could go out exploring.

I have my laptop, a Nintendo switch, some nice lotions and fave masks and hair masks and I do have a car.

WWYD in my situation?

You don't need any money from your bank though, you have plenty to entertain yourself so why would it matter if your bank is empty until tomorrow?

Loads to do in Portsmouth. If you don't want to spend too much, walk to Southsea and find the wee cake shop (is it the Tenth Hole) by the golf course. The cakes are to die for.

I genuinely didn't realise there was so much to do in Portsmouth... I thought it was a little place Confused

Right... Lunch and time for an explore then!

Go and see the historic Mary Rose ship!

Janus · 29/04/2019 13:32

Gunwharf for a mooch and lots of places to eat. Then go to south sea, I’ve heard of that tea shop too (never been though), it is meant to be lovely. Mary Rose. You can get a foot passenger to Isle of Wight for about £20, only about a 40 minute crossing. The sun is out, get out and enjoy and there’s some nice parks out there too, one has some animals in it, can’t remember the name but a google will show you!

MotherOfGodFella · 29/04/2019 13:36

I’m so envious. No kids/pets/husband nagging on, all morning lounging about in bed, £150 cash to spend and a new location by the sea to explore all by yourself Envy

You should have made a first world problem warning in your thread title Grin

Still18atheart · 29/04/2019 13:37

Can’t make any other suggestion but just wanted to say Portsmouth is a great place to explore enjoy. Smile

Spend the money. Lunch, buy a book, have a wander. Save some of the money for a really nice meal for you both tonight even if you want. Enjoy having a bit of time, have a bath and use all the products you can find. Portsmouth is your oyster!

PH03b3 · 29/04/2019 13:47

Pop into Portsmouth for a wonder round buy yourself a book have some lunch/a nice coffee /whatever and a lush bath bomb back to the hotel for a pamper sesh

MardAsSnails · 29/04/2019 13:50

I’d stay in bed. I like doing fuck all in a big comfy hotel bed.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 29/04/2019 13:52

"I'm skint" = I actually have £150 and its payday tomorrow is the polar opposite for skint for me.

Anyway I'm sure everyone else will point that out too. I'd go and buy some snacks and watch a film whilst munching on snacks tonight. Maybe go out for lunch and a nice coffee. Long bath / pamper later. Then out for breakfast tomorrow after a nice lay-in.

If you're boring like me, there's The D Day Story museum in Portsmouth

BouleBaker · 29/04/2019 14:31

Loads to do in Portsmouth. Start at the historic dock yard and walk through Gunwharf Quays then follow the marked walk around and into the old town. If you go along the front to Southsea at the end of the green is the Tenth Hole which has amazing cakes. If you fancied lunch at Gunwharf then Brasserie Blanc is amazing, I love pinching there by myself. Loads of boat trips on offer, or afternoon tea on a sea fort, or head up the Spinnaker Tower.

A visit to the Mary Rose followed by a lovely late lunch for one sounds like an ace way to spend an afternoon quite frankly.
