I am beyond gutted. My daughter is distraught. My beautiful boy. I miss him so much. I don't know why I'm posting really. I just want to talk about him.

I am very sorry for your loss, as a cat lover!

Tiredmum100 · 26/04/2019 21:12

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. As a cat lover I know you must be feeling devastated tonight. I truly believe cats choose us and it looks like in your case he came at the right time to be your daughters companion. Sending you hugs x

So sorry . Leo was the name kut boxer boy came to us with. We renamed him Duke. He was 4 months old when we got him and 7 yrs when we had to make that same awful decision. He was my baby when we couldnt have babies and through my dads cancer and ivf he was our constant love. A yr after our child was born he deteriorated in a 24 hr period . It always felt like he was here to see us through some shit times and when it was ok it was time to go. 2 yrs later we are still grieving. So sorry to hear about your leo

Goodbye precious boy, so sorry for your loss. I can't even read the comments without crying. So sorry. I lost my darling boy last year Flowers

We had to have our cat out to sleep today too. She was hit by a car on Weds. She was a rescue cat. We had her 5 years but she was about 11.
I feel terrible and miss her so much but many happy memories. Love to you xx

MaisondeChats · 26/04/2019 22:08

Love to you Teenagedream. Sorry to hear of your loss.

I'm sorry OP Flowers Cats aren't pets, they're companions and they're our family.

NoCanoe · 27/04/2019 00:53

Can I add my condolences?

Im a cat lover and when my last cat died, I felt I'd never get over it.

I did. 2 other cats helped, but never a day goes by without me thinking of him.

I'm so sorry.... Flowers

NoCanoe · 27/04/2019 00:54

I mean, the 2 others I had at time.

NoCanoe · 27/04/2019 00:58

And you gave him a happy life. Be proud and take comfort in that.

MaisondeChats · 27/04/2019 07:22

Thank you. They really steal your heart don't they? I've just been to feed the others, its so sad when only 3 come running. I feel guilty today for letting him go. We could have maybe had a few more months with him. The vet nurse told me I'd made the right decision though soo guess I have to trust her. I just would have loved to have said goodbye properly.

I had similar feelings with another cat.

I've come to conclusion there is no 'magic' point where you will feel you have got it right.

You will either worry you went ahead too soon, or berate yourself for leaving it too late. As an animal lover, you seriously cannot win!

But, again, Im so very sorry. Flowers

Theoldwoman · 27/04/2019 12:01

Oh I'm sorry to read this. Cats play such an important part of our lives don't don't they.
He sounds very blessed to have found a good home with you.

I'm dreading when our old boy isn't around anymore. He is 15 and a half, we got him when he was 12 weeks old. My 17 year old daughter adores him and is always with him when home.

Go easy on yourself. x

@MaisondeChats so sorry for your loss ❤️you definitely did the right thing - oral tumours in cats are really aggressive and even with palliative care the median survival time after diagnosing them is often a matter of weeks at most. Just remind yourself that you have relieved any suffering and pain, and been so selfless in making the most heartbreaking decision of all for your little cat. Xx

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 27/04/2019 17:25

So sorry for your loss. Flowers

MaisondeChats · 27/04/2019 18:46

Thank you. It has helped to know that the prognosis is not good for oral tumours. I have to trust what the vet nurse told me! I can't help feeling guilty. I was at a funeral (the wake, not the actual service) when the call came and I was put on the spot as he was still under anaesthetic. I would have liked the chance to talk to my husband and daughter but that wasn't possible so I had to make the decision. I'm so glad the last thing I said to him was that I loved him.
