Does anyone use packing cubes? Are they worth it?

A friend of mine raves about them just for helping you be organised when packing. Not really sure of the benefit because I just unpack all my suitcase when I get to a hotel and put my stuff in drawers/wardrobe.

But then I saw you can get compression ones and if it means you can fit more stuff in your suitcase that would be good. Do the compression ones make a big difference?

I go on multi centre trips and cruises and find them super useful for dividing stuff and organising it when I am going to be based in several places.

So most recent trip was 2 days in a city (all stuff in one packing cube), 4 days hiking in a national park (next cube), 4 days in another city (next cube) then an 8 day cruise (several cubes). It meant it was very easy for me as with moving every 2/4 days, I did not need to unpack and repack my suitcase multiple times, I simply used the cube for that part of the trip.

I think I would use them for most other trips as being so organised helps me take an appropriate amount of stuff (not too much or forgetting stuff!) but that could be my autistic drive to categorise stuff! Not sure if they’d have much value on a week in Spain by the beach as that seems much easier to pack for!

We use them to split everyone's clothes up. Then put one cube for each person in each case.
I'd like them to be a bit bigger (User, what did you use to get 4 days worth of stuff in a cube?), but they are great when you arrive, because I can put the green and grey ones in the kids rooms, and the rest are for me and DH. Then use the empty cube as the washing pile, making repacking at the end a case of zip up and put in the case.
Yes, I think you can get more in using the compression or roll sacks. Just be aware, I can now get more than 23kg in a medium suitcase..... so you can get overweight without knowing!

You can get many different sizes of pack-it cubes!

I use them.

I use a small ones to collate all the electrical and travel clutter (chargers, earphones, eye mast etc).

Always have another small one for underwear.

I don't find the larger ones so useful but I sometimes use larger ones to separate out clothes like user says. E.g. 5 days climbing followed by 3 days city sightseeing, I will pack the three day clothes separately in a large cube and just pull them out at the new location.

I can definitely fit more in with them. But I only use them backpacking, when space is an issue and I unpack a lot. If I'm using a suitcase I don't bother.

Yes I do. I wouldn’t travel without them now. Especially useful if touring.

Yes they are fab. Much quicker for unpacking and packing at the end of holiday. Easy to split peoples stuff over different suitcases. You can even colour coordinate them

I absolutely love my packing cubes! Completely changed how I pack, and so much easier. Especially if a long trip, you can have a cube for the first night if you are staying at an airport hotel, or different cubes for each person.
I used them recently for dds residential trip and she found it fab for separating activity clothes, night clothes, waterproofs etc and made it so much easier for her to pack coming home too.
I even use mini ones in handbags or the kids bags for day to day too.

I love them. Especially when travelling hand luggage only

we did 2 flights to Athens in Feb and despite going in and out of my bag repeatedly, all my clothes were still neat when we arrived.

These sound fab! How have I never heard of them.

Can anyone recommend the ones they have? I think they will be a lifesaver for packing for 3kids under 3 and all the asssorted crap they have to travel with! Smile

I love my packing cubes. Each person has one big cube which makes it super easy to unpack at the other end. Everyone just takes their own cube to their room. Late arrival? All first night pjs in one cube. Super easy.

I've got 50kg baggage allowance for both of us and airline said if we need anymore just ask and they'll increase it for free. Can't imagine I'm going to go over 50kg! 😁. So I think I will run out of space first.

I have Sea to Summit. And some cheap ones as well. The only thing that matters is the zip. Good, strong zip. Because I massively overpack them and it needs to be good!

I've just bought the lean travel compression ones and not sure I'm that keen on them over the normal ones I have.
I do like the normal ones though. Makes it easier for me when I'm counting on how many socks, pants etc, and double checking when I'm sure I've miscounted

I've got loads and love them. We often take several days to get to destination so useful for splitting out packing. Help pack more into space.

And, as family of five make packing and unpacking much easier as everyone had their own colour. Also we have one packed year round with swimming stuff/goggles etc so easy to grab and go for last minute trips to beach etc

I'm going to use a small one in my hand luggage with swim stuff for us both, shorts, vest tops so we can head straight to the pool when we get there. Going to a massive resort and apparantly it can take a couple of hours for your bag to reach your room.

Then I won't be hunting through stuff in my bag on my flight to find the stuff I actually want!

Or use a carrier bag per child?

Or use a carrier bag per child?

Carrier bags dont hold their shape or stack perfectly in bags. If you pull a carrier bag out the wrong way everything with fall out.

I like the look of them and especially think the smaller ones would be useful for cables and other bits like that, but don't they leave odd spaces in your case, how do you deal with those?

Oh, just seen that they compress, so space saving as well. Maybe I will have a work out to see if they will fit in my cabin bag and find something else from Amazon to bump the order up to £20 and might give them a go as I have a couple of trips away in May.

I hope you’re on commission 😂
I’ve just ordered two
Sets too
Really struggled with hand luggage only for. 2 days trip last month and got a 5 day one in June. I’m a chubster so to be able To squish clothes is good
