Can replacement screens be cut to size?

I want to resurrect my old MP3 player but the screen is basically being held together by the screen protector and duct tape. I can't find a replacement screen online. Can a clever person at a mobile shop cut one for something else to size or is it just too tricky? It's not touchscreen if that helps.

If you can get a film screen protector imagine you could cut it to size, not sure you could with the glass ones. Have attached a picture of one one eBay thats not glass. You could ask the seller if it can be cut.
Or failing that, how about the sticky back plastic you cover books in.

Good idea. Think I'll have to go in one of the shops and see what they say.
