Son allergic to suncream

Poor DS has an itchy rash all over from his suncream. I will get him some piriton today, in the meantime would hydrocortisone or eumovate help? Has anyone else's child had this?

My son is allergic to Nivea suncream, his face blew up and doubled in size. We use p20 now and dont have a problem with that one. It will probably be an ingredient in 1 suncream rather than all suncreams. It will just be trial and error on finding one were he dosent have a reaction.

Eurax is great if you can get some or hydrocortisone will help. Are you sure it’s not heat rash? Cool bath or shower and lightweight cotton clothes will help either way.

My brother is allergic to sun cream, he has (or defo used to have when growing up) one prescribed by the doctor Smile

P20 was fine last year so I think we'll go back to that. This was the Aldi cream.
I don't think it's heat rash, it's literally only where I've applied the cream.

My son came out in a rash like described with the aldi one too! I’ve swapped to Garnier Ambre Solaire kids sensitive f50 it’s in a face wash shaped bottle, hypoallergenic and a light weight texture and had no problems so far! £6 so not too expensive

mookinsx · 23/04/2019 06:45

I was very sensitive on my face and had to use baby sun cream on my face as a child but never reacted like that - Thanks

GoldenMalicious · 23/04/2019 07:04

Altruist is a good brand for sensitive skin, and it’s reasonably priced too. You can get it online.

SellFridges · 23/04/2019 07:11

DS has a reaction last year. We used a Child’s Farm moisturiser to clear up the rash and then tested loads of different creams. It was only the Nivea one that he reacted to. We’re using the Boots 8 hour one so far this year.

Vinorosso74 · 23/04/2019 07:19

DD used to react when she was little. We found the Green People one was good.

ScorchioScorchio · 23/04/2019 07:43

I came on to day Altruist too. I react to all sorts of suncream but so far, so good with Altruist (you can also get it in a bloody enormous bottle, which is really economical).

MySecondBestBroomstick · 23/04/2019 07:47

We have a child who always reacted to the first suncream of the year but was always fine after a switch of brand. Most bizarre! Think she's grown out of that now.

bronzesilvergold · 16/05/2019 10:13

People using the altruist sun cream where do you buy it from? They have it on amazon but some of the reviews question if it is a reputable seller.

spiderlight · 16/05/2019 10:27

Sunsense roll-on is good - it's the only one that didn't bring my son out in a rash when he was tiny.

Snazzygoldfish · 16/05/2019 10:32

My lo had this and soltan sensitive spray - spf 50 has been great

KoalaTea · 16/05/2019 10:33

my daughter allergic to nearly all of them >.<

We have to order SunSense as its the only brand she doesn't react to.
