Meal replacement shakes....

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/04/2019 21:30

I know this is not a great way to diet BUT I have reached crisis in terms of eating habits and I need to break the cycle of cakes, bread, sugar etc super fast.
I will be eating healthy as my main meal and plan to continue super healthy eating after a Couple of weeks of shakes. I just need a kick start....
Does anyone have any recommendations?
There are a lot more out there than there was the last time I did slim fast!!!
TIA

Sorry @FiremanKing - my mistake! I didn't see the offer when I clicked the link!

ShabbyAbby · 23/04/2019 08:59

I normally do a combination of supermarket ones and slim fast. The vitality seems quite filling but is also expensive, so I mix them up.

I understand the ready to drink shakes are convenient when out and about/work/busy etc but if you buy the powders would it not be cheaper to take a multi vitamin and mineral tablet and make your own milkshake? You can add ice to your blender to thicken it up and use cows milk alternatives if you wish such as almond milk etc.

Have you heard of Jason Vale's Super Blend Me.

It's meal replacement, but shakes you make in a blender or nutribullet all natural stuff.

Laiste · 23/04/2019 14:46

@FiremanKing i already take a good combo of vitamins every morning and to be honest lately i've pondered just buying some normal bottled chocolate milk shakes from Tesco chiller and pretending it's Slimfast!

I guess they wouldn't have the magic 'fill you up' fiber in them though .... but how much of this stuff is all in the mind? You know?

i've 'ruined' today already anyway by helping DD eat one of her eggs Hmm

Laiste · 23/04/2019 14:50

RussellSprout i've got one of those bullet blenders and they are great. Last summer a semi skimmed milk/banana/spoon of peanut butter blend was delish and enough to fill me up for a whole all morning. Or afternoon.

I just sort of forget to use it in the winter months. No idea why!

I watched a taste test video (can't remember what programme it was on) but all the testers preferred the Morrisons own brand shakes to the name brand. I haven't tried any, so not a personal review.

Coconut milk with protein powder. Pulsin do some good ones. You could add fruit juice too.

NoYo · 23/04/2019 15:00

Exante shakes are normally on offer, like BOGOF or a months worth of shakes for £50.
I tried the total plan where I just had 3 shakes a day and only got to day 3 before I cracked. Now back to 2 shakes and a sensible dinner, with fruit / porridge as a treat. It's still hard going as I love my food too much Smile

Try Poundstretcher. I've just bought a load of Body Design shakes there at £1 for a pack of four. They were also reduced in Superdrug recently so I guess they've been discontinued. They taste quite nice.

I thought all the exante shakes I ordered were disgusting. Really nasty. Much prefer the slim fast ones. I got the exante bars - double chocolate, chocolate and coconut and the peanut butter ones and really liked those and found them filling but everything else exante I could barely force down especially the shakes and anything savoury. They are always doing offers though of 50 items for £45 plus £2.75 (I think) delivery,

I am on the exante diet now and have been on lighter life in the past I have tried every bar shake soup not keen on the soups and all of the bars are disgusting apart from jam and yogurt ones the honey comb shake is horrible as well they don’t mix in well and find a small battery whisk is the best good luck 👋

The Protein Works - Chocolate Silk flavour. I've tried lots of meal replacement shakes over the years and this one is by far the best. Tastes like a creamy chocolate milkshake xx

Sorry if this is a stupid question but wouldn't making your own vegetable soup and blending it be better?
