board games - yawn

what's the point?
away with family (me, siblings, parents & children)
evenings - kids are too tired after a day of hiking - out come the board games.
they are never complete.
at least one (worst is my dad!) has a meltdown because the rules don't make sense.

Ahhh people mentioning Newmarket reminds me of my lovely Grandpa who use to keep a big jar of pennies to play and taught us all from a very young age!

We love board games in our family and its our main way of interacting with each other socially - but we are all on the asd or ADHD or other neurodiverse spectrums so having a framework for interaction where there are set rules written down us such a blessed relief for everyone. We love it.

Ludo is incredibly dull though.

I wonder if people’s attention span is now so short, from all the quick gratification of video games etc, that they can’t cope with board games?
My DC adored board games- we had loads- and I still love them as an adult. Ditto card games - I’m now a registered addict at the local Bridge club!

Teach your kids TexasHold’em and get them to take Nanny and Grandsd for every penny they’ve got.

I HATE board games. I hate card games I hate all of them. The only game I like is cards against humanity. I think mainly because I don’t drink so am always sober and other (drunk) people just react so slowly and it’s so bloody tedious. Watching DH reading s-l-o-w-l-y what’s on a small card makes me all stabby He’s like the sloth in zootropolis Angry

Poker....yes!

Everything else....NO!

If someone produces a pack of playing cards I suddenly have somewhere I need to be. Grin I find card games so dull.

I'd rather do the washing up for 15 people tbh...

it's also the 'doing something together' after you did everything together all day.

Sushi Go is a good card game for families
