Alcohol consumption/Weight loss

Today on Loose Women Suzannah Reid said since going tee total she has lost a stone in weight. How much alcohol must a person be consuming to lose that amount of weight when stopping drinking?

I drink three glasses of wine a week at the most. I enjoy it but always have a nagging voice reminding me about "hidden calories" and how a glass of wine is the equivalent to eating "10 donuts".

I sometimes consider going tee total but don't think I drink that much anyway for it to make a difference.

I was just surprised to how much weight she lost just be giving up drinking WineGin

A glass of wine is only about 90 - 100 kCalories, nowhere near one doughnut let alone 10! I find it's more that when I've had a drink, I then fancy some crisps, or nuts, or some chocolate and my will power has disappeared!

I used drink around six bottles of wine a week, sometimes more. When I gave up I lost not one single ounce. I did not replace the hidden calories with food as half the reason I gave up was to lose weight. I naively thought if I just stopped drinking, and ate the same as I always did, I’d lose weight. Nope!

This that not for the entire bottle? I glass won’t have that much sugar...

Quite a lot by the sounds of it.

But she does say alcohol and snacking.

I know if I’m adding alcohol to my day then my calories total goes from under 1500 per day to over 2250 because after a couple of (very large) wines I am also more likely to start snacking on crisps. A bottle of Sainsbury house plonk has just over 500 cals per bottle.....and I do drink the bottle!

Alcohol makes me snack so it's a double whammy. Reducing the alcohol is helping to shift the lbs because of that.
