I’ve lost a week of my life down the google rabbit hole due to a health scare. Can’t sleep tonight, can anyone suggest some good distractions. TOWIE isn’t cutting it, (trash tv normally helps me!) maybe a game or something addictive? Have just forced myself away from googling all my worries again....

Hm well you don't give many details about your interests: tv prefs to distract you, BUT you're on mumsnet and there are loadsa batshit posts to occupy you! Sadly hard to signpost, but you won't need to look too hard, trust me x

Oh god! Welcome to the club, I have a 7 year old with suspected epilepsy after her third seizure in a month - 2 hours sleep last night as we were in hospital and tonight I have googled everything possible to do with epilepsy - Some of it made me feel better most of it didn’t!
I now have a migraine....so have come on to MN to distract myself 😊
Do you instagram I’ve recently lost myself in #myhomethismonth which either makes me have ideas of grandeur or depresses me into wondering how people live like that! But yes that’s my distraction currently....
Hope you are okay x

Try a game called Amaze that will keep you busy for a few hours

I was wondering last time I was waiting in the walk in centre, do real doctors ever consult with Dr Google and scare the crap out of themselves? Or do they know it all already and walking around in a constant terror thinking every time they sneeze they've got rabies or something?

Dr Google is a miserable bastard who never has any good news. Don't take your phone to bed with you so you're not tempted to consult aT 2am.

Finding it so difficult to focus on anything other than my fears. Can’t quite make my brain switch off from it. Bloody anxiety! Spent the whole day shattered now wide awake feeling sick with worry looking things up however hard I try not to! Argh!

Redcrayons

Bit of both. How to put this...we tend to know the worst case scenarios (and catastrophise about them), but we also know some very scary resources to look stuff up on.

Leeeeemon36 · 13/04/2019 23:59

Step away from google. Go to your GP please.

Whatever your symptoms are google will interpret them as incurable disease and you’ll be dead within a month according to them.

Leeeeemon36 · 14/04/2019 00:02

Speaking from experience. Abdominal pains in 1st pregnancy were not ovarian cancer and sinusitis from hell didn’t manage to kill me by drowning my brain in pus.S

Butterchunks · 14/04/2019 00:06

Try sporcle.com. I hope things get better for you soon.

RawRoar · 14/04/2019 00:11

Thanks all. Don’t worry, I am being well looked after by specialists etc. Just an after dark weakness of mine to terrify myself online Blush

oh I'm in the same place (see my thread on same topic!) how about the 2048 game app on phone - I get v addicted to it!

myrtleWilson · 14/04/2019 00:17

not the same topic - I'm on general health with my anxiety...

SpoonBlender · 14/04/2019 00:44

Life rule - never search up your symptoms, only ever search up your diagnosis.

An individual symptom always shows up as cancer or something, because cancers trigger all the symptoms possible. So don't search up that little ache or pain.

Part of the most-of-a-decade of training for a GP is to be able to take a cluster of symptoms and also filtered by things you AREN'T suffering, and make a good shot at what the real underlying issue is. Google doesn't do that.

SpoonBlender · 14/04/2019 00:45

Also myrtle try Threes, it's the better game that 2048 was simplified from.
