Should I go back to my GP?

I've had a cough and a cold for over six weeks now with wheezing, I went to my gp a couple of weeks ago who prescribed some antibiotics, which had no effect whatsoever.
The cough is producing phlegm (sorry if TMI) and I still have a cold.
The gp mentioned bronchial wheezing, and by looking up my symptoms online, it seems I may have acute bronchitis, which can last for up to 90 days.
I don't feel unwell as such, although if I carry on with my normal daily activities I do start to feel achy and tired.
My family say I should go back to the gp, but I really don't see the point- if it's viral then there's not a lot they can do.
Has anyone ever had acute bronchitis or a long standing cough?

Definitely go. Phlegm an he a sign of infection and could become pneumonia, which I had and barely survived. Please for your sake and those around you, see your gp.

I found eucalyptus oil in my bath helped immensely... However go back to the gp in the meantime eucalyptus oil will help

I went back to my GP, who said there was crackling in my left lung, she sent me for a chest x Ray and prescribed me some doxycycline (antibiotic). Today is my second day of the antibiotic, and I've not noticed any difference yet. I'm just scared that the anti biotics won't shift it.
