I know how it works I'm just not sure how we'd go about applying for our situation. Our ds currently attends a private nursery for 2 days where he will remain until he starts school. We are increasing his days to 3 per week when the funding come in. However we would also like him to attend the local school pre school if he gets a place from September so then he'd do 1 day school preschool and 2 days private nursery. The problem we're having is filling out the funding forms when the situation is likely to change in September.

Do we just fill in the forms as the situation is now and then do we reassess for the autumn term when things change or will the LEA want to know our plans now to make it less complicated?!

What funding forms do you need to fill in? Usually the setting puts in a claim every term.

WhiteNancy · 17/03/2019 17:50

Are you using stretched funding (over more than 38 term weeks)?

mumof1littlebun · 17/03/2019 17:50

It's the free early education entitlement form. We have one for each setting. He is currently at the nursery and we are applying for a place at the school preschool.

Yes at the nursery we are going to stretch out the entitlement over the year

You might have to check with the nursery or school... ours doesn't allow split funding

Smoggle · 17/03/2019 17:54

The nursery will sort the funding out. They'll claim for next term April-August after Easter.
Next year's claim will be sorted in September.
The setting claims from the LA, you just have to get your code and give it to the setting.

In our LA, if it's stretched funding you need to think of the whole year April to March now. I think you need to ask if this is the case for you.

Also, in our LA, not sure about others, if you split you allocate your 15 universal hours and your 15 'extra' hours.

mumof1littlebun · 17/03/2019 18:15

Ours fortunately does allow split funding!
