Easter eggs- food bank?

I'm going to get the DCs Easter eggs in a bit and thought I would put a couple in the food bank trolley as well but not sure of they'd want them? Does anyone know please?

Mine does

They welcome the addition of selection boxes at Christmas so I'm sure a few small eggs would be appreciated .

TheHolySmirk · 15/03/2019 08:52

They'll take them, and better before Easter than after I guess.

Loads of supermarkets donate cases of them here though, and people buy loads at half price and donate them too, so I doubt there'll be a shortage.

My team collected selection boxes at Christmas alongside money for food banks. People seemed happier to donate a treat for children so we ended up with over 400. The foodbanks we shared them between were all delighted so I’m sure eggs would be very well received. More so as most banks are Christian led and the eggs help spread their message.

I always put some in a few weeks before Easter (so the FB have time to collect and distribute them on time). I remember a MNetter posting about how when she had had to go to the foodbank, having a little treat, and especially being able to give the DC a treat made a big difference in how she felt at an awful time.

BTW, the eggs are in addition to my normal foodbank donation of UHT milk or whatever they need most that week, so its not like giving choc instead of real food

BuffaloCauliflower · 15/03/2019 09:18

Do it. I’ve volunteered at a foodbank and when I donate myself as well as all the usual stuff I put in some biscuits or little choc bars too. Those kids also deserve a treat.

Absolutely donate some eggs, but do it now so that they have time to be collected, and distributed, before Easter. This takes longer than you might think!

I volunteer at a local community support project attached to the food bank and they’d definitely welcome Easter eggs.

Thank you everyone, I'll put a couple in the trolly. I just felt that if I were struggling badly enough to need a food bank, I probably wouldn't be able to manage that much in the way of treats for DCs but I heard somewhere food banks only really want the basics
