This wind is crazy!

Storm Gareth!

It's bin day tomorrow, already the bins have been put away as no point!

OP posts:
AwdBovril · 12/03/2019 23:00

Yorkshire, gusting nearly 60 here. It's been really stormy the last 3 nights but much quieter during the daytime (although still very rainy). Wonder if there's a reason why it seems less windy during the day?

nocoolnamesleft · 12/03/2019 23:02

Blimey, gust speed up to 67. Can no longer open my back door.

Finfintytint · 12/03/2019 23:07

My wheelie bin has blown over and I keep checking on my poly tunnel. It’s battened down but I’m still concerned it’ll fly away at any minute.

CandiedSkulls · 12/03/2019 23:11

I'm in West Yorkshire and it's HOWLING down my chimney. Really hoping the dodgy roof tiles stay attached!

ReturnofSaturn · 12/03/2019 23:15

Blackpool here. Very windy

Allabitmuchisntit · 12/03/2019 23:28

Conwy North Wales here. We need a new name for gust here, because what I'm hearing is a bit beyond gusty.

Finfintytint · 12/03/2019 23:33

Yes, Mid Wales here. We have a belligerent wind (suggested new name for gusty).

MsAwesomeDragon · 12/03/2019 23:41

We've got a right wind going here. It's awful.

There are roadworks on the pavement outside my house and I'm really worried that a pedestrian is going to fall in the hole because the barriers around it have blown away! Luckily there aren't many pedestrians because of the storm, but there are a few hardy dog walkers around.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 12/03/2019 23:41

Wirral here and it is recycling bin day early tomorrow morning. The road is now littered with bouncing cans and cardboard and is making a right racket alongside the howling wind. I've had to tape the letterbox shut and my dog (who barks at a knats fart) is going mental.

I believe a lot of Ireland based race horses due to run at Cheltenham this week have been emergency stabled at Aintree racecourse temporarily as there was a scramble to get them all over early as the ferry crossings have stopped.

EnidButton · 12/03/2019 23:46

It's roaring through our garden here (lakes). Making me feel quite nervous tbh. Never like the wind.

Our fence is about to come down by the looks of it.

EnidButton · 12/03/2019 23:47

Gusts of 98 km/h apparently. Confused

happymummy12345 · 12/03/2019 23:48

My husband was cycling home from work and said the wind was pushing him along (at least he didn't have to cycle into it).
Very bad here, luckily our son is out for the count and the cat is stretched out on the chair looking around. Both completely unfazed by it.

nocoolnamesleft · 12/03/2019 23:50

It looks scarier in kph - weather station a couple of miles away has had gusts up to 107. Gulp.

Lightupthesky · 12/03/2019 23:51

It's been very windy for the last week on and off in the south west. Currently where I am no storm.

Zoflorabore · 12/03/2019 23:54

Just outside Liverpool here and it's pretty bad. Our recycling bins were emptied yesterday so are pretty empty and I've heard a few falling over tonight in our close.

EnidButton · 12/03/2019 23:56

I just changed my weather app to mph instead of km/h. 37 mph with gusts of 53 mph sounds much less dramatic. That's made me feel better. Blush

Still sounds like a train is trying to get down the side of the house though.

JaneJeffer · 13/03/2019 00:03

DH was complaining earlier about the weather forecast giving kph instead of mph to make it seem more dramatic Grin

happymummy12345 · 13/03/2019 00:14

It's started raining a bit here now as well. (Meant to say I'm in Liverpool).

jinglewithbellson · 13/03/2019 00:15

Down south here and it's starting to pick up quite a bit Confused

Me and the dog are wide awake listening to it.

Been waiting for ds to come home safely after a late finish at work so now he's home and I've seen him I'm hoping mum instinct switches off and il drift off (if Gareth doesn't take my fence down in the next ten minutes)

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 13/03/2019 00:25

Co Durham here and very gusty. A roof was blown off a factory a few miles down the road earlier and police have road blocked off

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 13/03/2019 00:39

Its picking up here.....I hate it.

SapphireSeptember · 13/03/2019 01:35

Windy here in Cambs, walking to work this morning was fun! Confused It also bucketed down with rain around lunchtime to mid afternoon but by the time I left work I could see the moon and stars!

MsAwesomeDragon · 13/03/2019 01:52

We've all just been woken up by thunder. The thunder and lightning were arrived at exactly the same time 3 times in a row, and it was so LOUD. It really sounded l like we were under attack, or something was being blown apart, but it was just thunder.

The thunder has moved on now, can barely hear it, just a few short minutes since it woke us all up and set off all the car alarms on the street. The wind seems to have died down a little too. No doubt that will pick up again soon though.

ElizabethMainwaring · 13/03/2019 01:58

Thunder! Where abouts are you Dragon?

Kathulu · 13/03/2019 01:59

Thunder, lightning and it's very, very frightening me. Blowing an absolute hoolie here out in the wild of Northern Ireland- going to be an interesting drive down the coast road in the morning Confused
