Is my boyfriend on the spectrum?

Hi everyone.

I've been with my partner for 4 years now and we live together. When we first got together it was clear he was quite introverted and that was never a problem for me at the time.
As time has gone in I have noticed certain behaviours that would link in with him having Aspergers/autism. He himself has also brought the conversation up saying that he could potentially be on the spectrum but doesn't want the label.
On one hand he is loving, devoted and loyal and wouldn't PURPOSEFULLY do anything to hurt me. On the other hand, living with his quirks is starting to wear me down and I feel it's always me making exceptions for him.
Does anyone else have any expereince of living with a partber with Aspergers? How did you bring up the conversation? Have you made the relationship work? What traits have you noticed in your partner and how do these affect your life?

Thanks

There is a thread on here somewhere for partners of people with Autism. I think it can work if both consider the other. But it can be draining and may not suit you in the long run.

It helps if both partners are autistic tbh. Me and dh just automatically get each others quirks and we're both on the same page when it comes to social stuff and shops etc.

Can you live with the way he is?

I think this is the thread (with links to the two previous threads) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/relationships/3463341-Married-to-someone-with-Aspergers-Support-group-here-Thread-3, that lunicorn referred to, which you might get some helpful info/advice from.

Oh, I've just seen there's a new thread 4 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/relationships/3524836-Married-to-someone-with-Aspergers-support-thread-4-replacement-one, but it's probably worth reading the previous 3 first.
