Clothes for long skinny toddlers

DD had had a growth spurt. She is very tall and 18-24 dresses and leggings look too short on her. However they are huge around her waist and on her legs. So she seems to be 12-18 month waist and body and 2-3 in height! Any ideas where does clothes for string bean children?

I have a string bean too! I have found Gap and H&M skinny jeans and trousers fit well and have narrower waists than others.

I check all trousers for the elastic that you can tighten. I’m sorry to report that it continues to be a problem. DS1 is 6 and his 7-8 school trousers on the tightest elastic setting are showing his ankles and falling off his bottom simultaneously. He’s 90th for height and 50th for weight so not extraordinary!

H&M.

Delurking have you discovered M&S extra long school trousers?? My 9 yr old is in age 7 extra long, with the waist pulled in. Worth investigating replacing the 7-8 trousers with 7-8 extra long.

DS has always been long and skinny and I too find H&M are great.

DS has the M&S extra long school trousers too Winter. Shame M&S don't do longer length in their main range. I find M&S builds for short and stocky generally.

French clothes are slim cuts, try a size larger than her age in Petit Bateau, Sergent Major and Verbaudet.

H&M, Gap
Age 10, DS wears age 13 clothes for height, but would manage age 8 round the waist. Next are great for school trousers in this respect.

DelurkingAJ · 04/03/2019 21:48

Oooh! I shall investigate M&S - I hadn’t as their normal boys trousers weren’t a starter.

I have one of these. It's very limiting in what you can find to fit them. Gap and Next have been good for us. I have found even H&M to be too wide on the waist. Zara do skinny waists, but are often too short, though there has been the odd winner. Avoid M&S, John Lewis and Boden.

Mine were both like this, and looked ridiculously swamped in 18-24m clothes when they were around 2 and petite/slim. I did notice though, that as you get into age 3+ clothes, they aren't designed to accommodate nappies any more, so they do slim down a lot width-wise. Peacocks were always good for us.
