Wedding gift not received

Recently married, DH best man is a long term friend and quite wealthy. They wrote us a cheque but we could not cash as wrong names (we don't have a joint bank account or plan on getting one). They are aware and said they'd transfer money but some time now and not sent. A generous gift but don't want to chase...I know they would want us to have it and can afford it. How should we approach this?

Yes just leave it be

However it was bought up would be asking

It's just one of those things

Almost worth opening account to accommodate if you still had Cq

Lamentations · 27/02/2019 10:54

Agree you have to leave it. Very annoying for you though.

At a risk of asking a daft question... do they definitely have your bank details to transfer it? They aren’t waiting for you to send them are they? They too may be thinking you will get round it and are busy.

One of you should send a text with a message like “we’re such idiots! We didn’t send you the bank details. Here are mine. So sorry about that; just been a bit of a whirlwind since the wedding. Thank you again for the gift; it means so much to us”

You cant "ask" for a gift .

You will just need to leave it now.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 27/02/2019 11:57

For whatever reason he hasn't followed through with the cash, but there will be a reason.

Cringe

Actually, I changed my mind. What you should do is say thank you for your kind wedding gift, if you haven’t already. You look gracious, and they might realise the error.

Amber0685 · 07/03/2019 23:10

Can you somehow mention writing thank you cards?
