Washing machine recommendations please.

Good morning. I may need to splash out on a new machine soon. I'd like to spend under £500.00. Nothing fancy. 1400 rpm, half load, 15 minute programme etc. Doesn't need a tumble dryer incorporated.

What do you suggest, please, and are there any brands you'd avoid for any reason ?

My current machine is an Indesit, about seven years old and reconditioned when I bought it. It doesn't owe me anything but I'll see if it's worth repairing first.

Thankyou.

I can't believe how many machines some of you have been through.

John Lewis, is my current one can't even remember when we got it but at lest 8 years old. Maybe older and still going strong, you don't need a half load on modern machines as they ajust for the load in them automatically. It has a quick was though which is handy.

I've just bought my 2nd Indesit, 1st one lasted 9 years (no repairs).

I love my Samsung, a great 1 hour programme (all temperatures available) and a 15 min quick wash. Probably should add I also love my Samsung phone and my Samsung TVGrin.

And my 1st washing machine was a Bendix Electrolux which I had for 13 years.
With my AEG I love that I can adjust the times on most of the programmes eg the 60 degree wash can be amended from 2 hrs to 1 hr if you wish but seeing that post about the AEG I might have to look at other brands. They must have gone downhill since I purchased mine

I've had my Bosch over 8 years, it's survived 2 house moves, been bashed about & still works. I'm moving again hopefully soon, I want a bigger capacity with a faster spin speed, thinking Samsung or LG.

I hope to use my new machine for the first time tomorrow. I think we take it for granted that we'll always have our labour-saving devices to hand and we really miss them when we're without, even if it's just for a matter of days. Thank goodness for launderettes !

They're all made by Vestel!
Hotpoint, Indesit. They're all the same machines, built in the same factory, and just given a different namr badge on the front to make you think you are getting a different machine from a different manufacturer.

But you aren't!

I’ve got a Samsung and it’s great. It plays a little tune when the cycle is finished too which always amuses me.
