I’ve had this lump on my cheek for a few weeks now and google isn’t helping me find out what it is. Does anyone have any ideas?

Did you bite your cheek maybe?
I think if you’ve had it for a few weeks and there’s no sign of it going then you should have it looked at by a dentist or GP.

Get your dentist to check it out

camelssmell · 18/02/2019 22:01

I don’t recall biting my cheek, unless I did in my sleep. I think I’ll book a dentist appointment just to check it’s nothing major. Thanks :)

Do get it checked, but you’re probably grinding your teeth at night.

I often get quite a lumpy imprint inside my cheek because when I sleep I involuntarily kind of 'suck' the inside of my mouth. It sometimes really looks like a mould of my teeth! And if a bit o cheek gets between my teeth it can get quite sore and swollen. Can't see from the photo if that's what it is with you - a dentist will be able to tell you though I expect.

It looks like your cheek is a bit swollen and your teeth have left imprints. It happens to me sometimes, especially when I've had a mouth ulcer, or something's got stuck behind my half-erupted wisdom tooth. Salt water rinses can help with an inflamed mouth, but no harm checking with the dentist - a few weeks is a long time to have an inflamed cheek.

Sorry no idea why it’s double posted!

Difficult to see where in the mouth the photo has been taken. My guess would be that it’s your parotid duct opening.

talktoo · 19/02/2019 10:00

Looks like the duct on the inside of your cheek

camelssmell · 20/02/2019 16:01

@RobinHumphries it’s at the back, kind of next to my wisdom teeth
